Burial Story

Pte Ash was the son of Bernard and Doris Ada Maggie (nee Binnie) Ash of Dover, Kent. He had served previously as a regular soldier in Korea but had returned to England on compassionate leave when his mother fell ill in 1950. He had been back in Korea for only three weeks and was killed two days after his 21st birthday. He attended school at Gaywood Park School in King's Lynn, Norfolk and had worked at a local engineering company before joining the army when he was 18.  He was engaged to be married to a girl from Leamington Spa, Warwickshire
