Burial Story
Pte Ford was the son of Harry and Gertrude Miriam (nee Haymes) Ford, born in Streatham, London. He attended Eardley Road school and joined the Royal Leicestershire Regiment when he was 17. He was known as a good boxer and had worked in a menswear shop before the army. He was posted to China in 1949 and then to Korea. He was due to be married when he returned to the UK.
