My Second Visit to Korea

On the 18th of April 2007 I flew into Korea for the second time in 22 years. The main purpose of my visit to your country was to visit the UN Memorial Cemetery in Pusan and stand at the grave side of my elder brother John A. Butterworth who was killed in action in 1952 while helping the Korean people to defend themselves against the northern aggression

I stood at his grave marker in 1985 with my late wife on 25th April. With this visit I wanted to emulate this experience on ANZAC Day 25th April 2007. ANZAC Day is a very important day of remembrance for soldiers who fell in wartime. The name ANZAC was derived by combing the two nations together Australia and New Zealand who fought in the same battle in 1915 the invasion of Gallippoli in Turkey.

ANZAC= Australia and New Zealand Army Corp

On both visits to your lovely country and speaking with some of your people . I have noted how appreciative your people are for one of the foreign countries that help defend your homeland. After returning in 22 years I have noticed the big changes that have taken place in this time.

The development in the infrastructure that has taken place since we were here last:
Ex. Construction of
(a) Freeways
(b) Bridges
(c) Subways
(d) Residential
(e) just the general progression of this vibrant city of Pusan.

My wish and prayers are for you Korean people, that is, your country in the near future will become the one Korea.
God bless!
