UNMCK - UNITED NATIONS MEMORIAL CEMETERY IN KOREA

The UNMCK has a new plan this year not only to solve
the problem of water submersion in the area behind the
UN Forces Monument in the Green Area of the UNMCK
but also to landscape thereon. Recently, the UNMCK has
successfully secured the special budget from the Korean
Government Authorities needed for the above plan.
Accordingly, you may expect conspicuous changes
to the UNMCK at the second half of this year.

According to the plan, there will be two streams of newly
built waterways with 5 meters width each between the UN Forces
Monument and the south fence. Along with the two streams
of waterway, there will be 22 fountains in the center of each
waterways ,which stand for the number of the countries whose
nationals have been interred in the UNMCK. There will be also
two lines of pine trees along the outer side of each water way,
Thus, you may walk down the rock paved road on both sides of
which there will be streams of waterway with fountains and
the lines of the pine trees.

The outer circle of the UN Forces Monument will shape the
UN emblem and the landscape of the southern area of the
UN Forces Monument will be completely changed with
rearrangement of the trees thereon.

With the above plan, the UNMCK can provide you not only with
the fantastic outlook but also with the water-problem-free-zone
in the southern part of the UN Forces Monument, where often
used to be submerged under water in rainy season.
