June 2008 On-going Renovation at the UNMCK

Currently, the Green Area of the UNMCK is undergoing landscape upgrading.
1. Dredging of the Pond 1 has been complete. An old concrete bridge connecting to the islet in the middle of the Pond 1 is being replaced with a superior looking new wooden bridge. The renovation is expected to be completed this year.
2. The construction to replace the road stretching from the UN Forces Monument to the Southern fence with a stone pathway bordered by 22 cascades of water (11 on each side) symbolizing the number of countries whose nationals have been buried in the UNMCK is currently underway. The renovation work is scheduled for completion in October this year.
