Designated by UN, the UNMCK is the only holy ground of it’s a kind in the world.

The road stretching southward from the UN Forces Monument has been replaced with the “Unknown Soldiers' Pathway.” The number ‘11' is very significance. First, the pathway consists of 11 steps symbolizing the number of countries whose nationals are currently interred at the UNMCK. 11 cascades of water, 11 water fountains, and 11 pine trees along each side of the pathway represent the 11 countries. The total of 22, adding up the both sides, represents the 22 nations(including Korea) who participated in the Korean War under the UN flag.
