Dear, Veterans of Britain
Today, We would like to express our condolences and thanks in front of the tombstone of a Britain veteran. We are UN supporters of Pukyong University.
We appreciate the courage of British veterans who did not back down to protect the freedom and peace in the Republic of Korea. Thanks to your dedication, the Republic of Korea is now able to have peace and freedom. We know that your efforts will never be forgotten in our hearts.
Britain led the Korean War with the United States, sending the second largest number of troops, 56,000 in both the Army and the Navy.
The British army has contributed greatly to numerous battles, including the Battle of the Nakdonggang River Defense Line (1950), the Battle of Seolmari (1951), and the Battle of Gapyeong (1951). Among them, the Battle of Seolmari, which the British army sacrificed the most during the Korean War, was so fierce that only about 50 out of 800 troops survived.
The British Navy joined the East-West Maritime Operations with the U.S. Navy ships in 1950 and carried out maritime operations until the armistice agreement was signed.
Once again, We would like to thank the veterans for fighting for Korea between life and death to protect a country they don't know at all and a people they have never met. Until the day when the indescribable gratitude is delivered to you, we will remember and try.
We express our deep gratitude and respect for the noble dedication we have made to make us today. Thank you for allowing us to live in the present. We will remember forever.
