친애하는 덴마크 참전용사분들께
안녕하십니까, 15기 부경대학교 UN 서포터즈 입니다. 오늘 저희는 덴마크 참전용사분들께 한국 전쟁 참전에 대한 감사와 애도를 표하고자 합니다. 덴마크 참전용사분들이 없었더라면 오늘날의 대한민국이 될 수 없었을 것입니다. 대한민국이 비로소 진정한 평화와 자유를 가질 수 있게 만들어주신 덴마크 참전용사분들께 가슴 깊이 감사를 전합니다.
덴마크는 1950년 6월 27일 UN이 한국에 대한 군사원조 결의를 하자 유엔 회원국 중 제일 먼저 의료지원 의사를 통보하였고, 8월 19일 유틀란디아호를 파견하였습니다. 유틀란디아호는 의무요원, 행정요원, 선박요원과 외과, 내과, 치과, 방사선과의 의사를 포함하여 100명 내외의 요원이 승선한 채 1951년 3월 7일 부산항에 입항하였고, 1953년 10월까지 3차례 걸쳐 한국에 파견되었습니다. 포격 위협이 있는 전방 항구로 나아가 적극적인 의료지원 활동을 전개하기도 했습니다. 정전협정 체결 후에는 1953년 8월 16일 인천시민의 환송을 받으며 인천항을 떠났습니다.
총 연인원 630명이 근무하며 6,000여 명 이상의 환자를 치료하고 후송하였습니다. 최신 의료시설과 장비, 의약품, 탁월한 의료진 덕에 전쟁으로 중상을 입은 환자들도 빠르게 회복할 수 있었습니다. 이후 노르웨이·스웨덴과 함께 국립의료원 설립과 운영에도 참여하여 대한민국의 의료 기술 수준을 높이는데도 기여하였습니다.
참전용사분들의 희생으로 우리는 자유롭게 살고 행복한 하루를 보낼 수 있습니다. 참전용사분들께서 쓰신 용감한 역사를 결코 잊지 않겠습니다. 노고와 희생에 대한 보답으로 더 나은 사회 구축을 위해 노력하겠습니다. 감사합니다.

Dear, Veterans of Denmark
Hello, this is United Nations Supporters of Pukyong National University. Today, we are here to express our condolences and gratitude on behalf of all the veterans of Denmark who sacrificed for the Korean War. If it weren't for the Danish veterans, South Korea wouldn't be the nation it is today, enjoying true peace and freedom. We deeply express our gratitude to the Danish veterans who made it possible for South Korea to finally achieve genuine peace and freedom.
Denmark, on June 27, 1950, when the UN passed a resolution for military aid to South Korea, decided to provide medical support and was the first UN member country to express its willingness to support. Along with the dispatch of the Tuelandia ship on August 19, they pledged various medical supplies and more. The Tuelandia ship consisted of around 100 personnel, including conscripts, administrative staff, and ship crew, and had medical specialists in surgery, internal medicine, dentistry, and radiology. They departed from Denmark on January 23, 1951, arrived at Busan Port on March 7, and were deployed to South Korea three times until October 1953.
They also actively engaged in providing medical support, even in forward ports threatened by enemy fire. After the armistice agreement, they left Incheon Port on August 16, 1953, bidding farewell to the citizens of Incheon.
With a total of 630 personnel, they treated and transported over 6,000 patients. Thanks to their advanced medical facilities, equipment, pharmaceuticals, and outstanding medical personnel, critically ill patients could recover quickly. Subsequently, they contributed to raising South Korea's medical technology standards by participating in the establishment and operation of the National Medical Center along with Norway and Sweden.
We can live freely and happily every day thanks to the sacrifices of these veterans. We will never forget the courageous history they wrote. In gratitude for their hard work and sacrifice, we will strive to build a better society. Thank you.
