미국 참전용사께
안녕하십니까. 부경대학교 학생봉사단 2기입니다.
6·25전쟁 당시 대한민국의 자유와 평화를 지키기 위해 헌신하신 미국 참전용사 여러분께 깊은 감사와 추모의 마음을 전합니다. 자유를 수호하기 위해 머나먼 타국까지 찾아와 목숨을 걸고 싸워주신 여러분의 숭고한 희생과 용기는 오늘날 대한민국이 자유와 민주주의, 그리고 평화를 누릴 수 있는 든든한 토대가 되었습니다.
1950년 6월 25일 전쟁이 발발한 이후 미국은 유엔군의 중심 국가로서 참전국 가운데 가장 많은 병력을 파병하였습니다. 178만 명이 넘는 장병들이 대한민국을 지키기 위해 한반도에 파병되었으며, 더글러스 맥아더 장군이 지휘한 인천상륙작전은 전세를 뒤바꾼 역사적인 전환점이 되어 대한민국에 다시 희망을 가져다주었습니다. 또한 전쟁이 끝날 때까지 수많은 미국 장병들이 용기와 헌신으로 함께 싸웠으며, 많은 분들이 자유를 위해 가장 소중한 것을 기꺼이 희생하셨습니다.
"자유는 결코 거저 얻어지는 것이 아닙니다.“
이 한마디는 오늘날 우리가 누리는 자유와 평화가 참전용사 여러분의 용기와 희생 위에 세워졌음을 다시 한번 일깨워 줍니다. 70여 년이라는 시간이 흘렀지만 대한민국은 여러분의 헌신을 결코 잊지 않을 것입니다. 가장 어려웠던 순간 대한민국의 손을 잡아주었던 미국과 참전용사 여러분의 우정과 연대 또한 영원히 기억하겠습니다.
여러분께서 지켜주신 자유와 평화의 가치는 오늘을 살아가는 우리 모두에게 소중한 유산이 되었습니다. 저희 부경대학교 학생봉사단 2기는 그 숭고한 뜻을 이어받아 자유와 평화의 가치를 지키고, 미래 세대에도 그 정신을 전할 것을 약속드립니다.
대한민국을 위해 헌신하신 모든 미국 참전용사 여러분께 깊은 존경과 감사의 마음을 전하며, 숭고한 희생을 영원히 기억하겠습니다.

To the United States Korean War Veterans,
Greetings from the PKNU Student Volunteer Corps, 2nd Generation.
We extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt remembrance to the United States veterans who fought to defend the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea during the Korean War. Your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting freedom on a distant land laid the foundation for the peace, democracy, and prosperity that Korea enjoys today.
Following the outbreak of the Korean War on June 25, 1950, the United States became the leading force of the United Nations Command and contributed the largest military contingent among all UN member nations. More than 1.78 million American service members answered the call to defend the Republic of Korea, demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to the cause of freedom. Under the leadership of General Douglas MacArthur, the Incheon Landing became a historic turning point in the war, restoring hope when the future of Korea seemed uncertain. Throughout the conflict, countless American service members fought with unwavering courage and selfless devotion, and many made the ultimate sacrifice so that future generations could live in freedom.
"Freedom is not free.“
These words remind us that the peace and liberty we enjoy today were secured through the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of those who came before us. Although many decades have passed, the Republic of Korea has never forgotten your service, nor will we ever forget the friendship and solidarity shown by the American people during our nation's darkest hour.
Your legacy lives on in every generation that continues to cherish peace, democracy, and freedom. We are committed to preserving these values with the same determination and responsibility that you demonstrated more than seventy years ago.
With our deepest respect and sincere gratitude, we honor your service and pray that all who sacrificed for Korea may rest in eternal peace.
