존경하는 캐나다 6·25 참전용사분들께
2026년 9월 18일, 저희 PKNU 학생봉사단 2기는 대한민국의 자유와 평화를 위해 헌신하신 여러분께 깊은 감사와 존경의 마음을 전합니다.
6·25전쟁 당시 대한민국은 전쟁의 참화 속에서 수많은 사람들이 가족과 삶의 터전을 잃고 고통을 겪어야 했습니다. 자유와 평화를 지키기 위해 대한민국을 돕고자 세계 여러 나라에서 많은 장병들이 함께해 주셨으며, 그중 캐나다에서도 수많은 장병들이 먼 타국까지 찾아와 대한민국을 위해 싸워주셨습니다.
여러분께서는 사랑하는 가족과 소중한 일상을 뒤로하고 낯선 땅에서 전쟁의 위험을 감수하셨습니다. 그 과정에서 목숨을 잃거나 부상을 입은 많은 참전용사분들의 희생을 생각하며 깊은 존경과 감사의 마음을 표합니다.
오늘날 대한민국은 전쟁의 폐허를 딛고 눈부신 발전을 이루어 자유와 평화를 누리는 나라로 성장하였습니다. 저희가 오늘 이곳에서 자유롭게 공부하고, 미래를 꿈꾸며 평범한 일상을 살아갈 수 있는 것 또한 여러분을 비롯한 참전용사분들의 용기와 희생이 있었기에 가능했다고 생각합니다.
오늘 이 자리에서 여러분의 희생을 되새기며, 평화가 결코 당연하게 주어진 것이 아니라는 사실을 다시 한번 마음 깊이 새기겠습니다. 또한 여러분께서 지켜주신 자유와 평화의 가치를 소중히 여기고, 그 의미를 다음 세대에도 이어갈 수 있도록 노력하겠습니다.
먼 타국에서 대한민국을 위해 헌신하신 캐나다 참전용사 여러분의 숭고한 희생과 헌신을 오래도록 기억하겠습니다. 여러분께서 보여주신 용기와 희생이 오늘날 대한민국의 평화와 발전으로 이어졌음을 잊지 않겠습니다.

To the Respected Canadian Korean War Veterans,
On September 18, 2026, we, the members of the PKNU Student Volunteer Corps, 2nd Generation, would like to express our deepest gratitude and respect to all of you who devoted yourselves to protecting the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea.
During the Korean War, the Republic of Korea was devastated by the horrors of war, and countless people lost their families, homes, and livelihoods. Many soldiers from around the world came together to support Korea and defend its freedom and peace. Among them were many young Canadian soldiers who traveled across the world to a distant and unfamiliar land to fight for the Republic of Korea.
You left behind your beloved families and precious everyday lives and faced the dangers of war in a foreign land. We express our deepest respect and gratitude as we remember the many veterans who lost their lives or were wounded in the course of their service.
Today, the Republic of Korea has overcome the devastation of war and achieved remarkable development, becoming a nation that enjoys freedom and peace. The fact that we can study freely, dream about our futures, and live our everyday lives today is possible because of the courage and sacrifices of you and countless other Korean War veterans.
As we reflect on your sacrifices today, we will remember deeply that peace is not something that should ever be taken for granted. We will also cherish the values of freedom and peace that you protected and strive to carry their meaning forward to future generations.
We will always remember the honorable sacrifices and dedication of the Canadian veterans who came from a distant land and devoted themselves to the Republic of Korea. We will never forget that your courage and sacrifices have contributed to the peace and development that Korea enjoys today.
To all Canadian Korean War veterans who devoted themselves to the Republic of Korea, we offer our deepest and sincerest gratitude.
We will never forget your sacrifices and dedication.
