친애하는 독일 참전용사분들께

  안녕하십니까, 15기 부경대학교 UN 서포터즈입니다. 오늘 저희는 대한민국의 평화와 자유를 위해 많은 도움을 주신 독일 참전용사분들께 깊은 감사를 표하고자 합니다.

  독일은 한국전쟁 당시 의료지원국으로서 자유와 평화의 가치를 실현하였습니다. 1953년 5월, 독일은 유엔군을 지원하기 위해 야전병원 파견 의사를 유엔 본부에 보냈고, 총 117명 규모의 의료지원단을 부산으로 파견했습니다. 독일 의료지원단은 1954년 5월부터 1959년 3월까지, 입원환자 2만 2,516명과 외래환자 28만 2,468명을 치료하였고, 1만 6,335명을 수술하며 혼란 속 수많은 생명을 구하였습니다. 아울러 독일 의료지원단은 전쟁으로 다친 환자뿐만 아니라 가난한 시민과 피란민까지 무료로 진료하며 희망을 선물하였습니다. 이는 단순히 의료 활동을 넘어, 인간애와 평화의 가치를 실천하는 것이었습니다.

  독일 의료지원단은 전쟁 이후 한국 의료 발전에도 기여하였습니다. 개원 후 이듬해인 1955년 6월 말부터 한국 의사의 재훈련을 위한 실습이 진행되었고, 한국 의사 21명에게 진료, 진단, 수술 등의 임상 훈련을 교육하였습니다. 또한 3년 과정 간호학교를 병설해 무료로 운영하여 이곳에서 60여 명의 간호사를 배출하였습니다.

  독일 의료지원단의 헌신적인 희생과 봉사 정신을 결코 잊지 않을 것입니다. 여러분들의 피와 땀이 대한민국의 희망이 되었고, 오늘날의 평화와 번영을 가능하게 했습니다. 여러분들의 노고와 공헌에 진심으로 감사드립니다. 독일 의료지원단의 숭고한 희생과 봉사 정신을 영원히 기억하겠습니다.

Dear, Veterans of Germany

  Hello, this is United Nations Supporters of Pukyong National University. Today, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the German veterans who have provided much help to the Republic of Korea for peace and freedom.
 Germany realized the value of freedom and peace as a medical support country during the Korean War. In May 1953, Germany sent a proposal to dispatch a field hospital to support the UN forces to the UN headquarters, and subsequently deployed a medical support unit of 117 personnel to Busan. The German medical support unit achieved the feat of saving and treating countless lives. They saved 22,516 inpatients, 282,468 outpatients, and conducted 16,335 surgeries from May 1954 to March 1959. In addition, the German medical support unit provided free treatment to patients not only wounded in the war, but also poor citizens and refugees. This went beyond mere medical activities; it was about embodying the values of compassion and peace.
  The German medical support unit also contributed to the post-war development of Korean healthcare. Practical training for the retraining of Korean doctors took place starting from the end of June 1955. The unit provided clinical training in medical treatment, diagnosis, surgery, etc., to 21 Korean doctors. Additionally, the German medical support unit established a three- year course nursing school and operated without charging any money.
 The sacrifice and countless effort of the German medical support unit will never be forgotten. Your blood and sweat became the hope of the Republic of Korea, and made today's peace and prosperity possible. We sincerely thank you for your hard work and contributions. We will always remember the noble sacrifice of the German medical support unit.
