Dear Mr. Veteran,
Hello, my name is Sung-eun Kim, I attend Busan international middle School, which is in South Korea, the country that you fought for during the Korean War.
Our country has developed dramatically over the past 50 years. Despite being in a terrible state after the war, we could achieve economic and technological advance. On top of that, our country is now an independent, democratic nation, and has become influential internationally. Nome of this would have been possible if it weren’t for your sacrifice and bravery. Therefore, I am truly grateful and would like to thank you for your courage and love for peace. I am fully aware that the development of you nation and our individual lives as well, is based on your sacrifice.
My grandfather is a veteran of the Vietnamese war, and often recalls his memories fighting in the war. He once told me about that experience and how it was terrifying to fight in a country away from home. Listening to his experience gave me a chance to think about the Korean War veterans from other countries. I understand it, must have been a frightening time for you during the war, to be in a strange place so far away from home. I give you my appreciation and respect, and would like to tell you once more that I am touched by your courage.
Sadly, North and South Korea have not united yet. Besides, the tension between the two countries has become stronger over the past few weeks since North Korea declared to break the truce and start a nuclear war. However, we will not let your sacrifice and efforts wash away and be forgotten. The two nations will re-unify peacefully, and we will never forget your beautiful bravery and sacrifice I thank you once more for fighting for our country.
Yours Sincerely,
Sung-eun KIM
