To the unknown soldiers, Hello, I am Yaeeun, Lee - an 18 years old girl living in South Korea. As many people know, we - Korea - had a big traumatic event, the Korean War. During the war, not only Korean soldiers but also lots of veterans through out the world made an effort for our country. I am sure that it wouldn't be an easy choice to take part in the war. That is why I would like to express my gratitude and respect for your courage and consideration for Korea. I would like to show my gratitude to the veterans who sacrificed themselves for the Korea. Since I was born in 2002, I have the level of the common knowledge that I learned about the situation in history class. However, learning was scary enough, and it was amazing how you thought about fighting at the situation. If I were you, I would have thought only of my safety and worried about the situation and could not have done what I wanted to do. But it was so touching that you even came to fight from another country. War is one of the things that shouldn't happen, leaving someone with great trauma and scars. Whether it happened within one country or in a collision with another, it is true that it is big blow to the world. When I was 16, I had done a fund-raising campaign for Korean veterans. With the raised money, we bought some side dishes and sent to them. I was so sorry for them that they sacrificed for country, but actually they were not having enough support from anywhere, by physically, financially or mentally. My dream is to become a psychiatrist. It is because I want to help some people such as war orphans or veterans who are suffering from traumatic memories during the war. Even though I am not that good talker, but I would like to "hear" their hurting story and help them to get out of the bitter memories. I hope I could be a good psychiatrist, counselor someday. Also I hope to be helpful for you, too, by writing letters or if possible, by meeting face to face. Yet, South Korea and North Korea isn't unified but slowly we are changing to understand each other. Now, as I am living in a peaceful place, I would study hard and work hard to remain this peace. Also I will never forget that this peace was the result of many veterans' sacrifice from diverse countries. Hope you to be always healthy and have nice days. Sincerely, Yaeeun Lee
