  • Is there any day of the year that you are not open?

    ​The UNMCK is open 7days a week, 365 days a year.

  • What hours is the UNMCK open?

    The UNMCK hours of operation are as follows:
    · October through April: 09:00 ~17:00

  • Is there any place to eat at the UNMCK?

    Bringing or eating food in the UNMCK is not permitted. Food is permitted in the parks adjacent to the UNMCK.

     

  • Where do I park my car?

    Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the UNMCK main gate.

     

  • What’s the admission fee?

    Free.

  • The landscape of the UNMCK is so beautiful. Is there a procedure to follow for taking pictures?

    All guests are welcome to record images for personal use. For non-profit public use, please obtain consent from the UNMCK office prior to recording images. Recording images for commercial use is not permitted.

  • How can I dedicate flowers?

    Guests are welcome to bring and place flowers. To place flowers at a particular grave, please first visit the UNMCK office for assistance. If you would like to have flowers placed by UNMCK staff on your behalf, please refer to the link on the main page of our website or click here.

  • Who manages the UNMCK?

    The UNMCK is owned and overseen by the Commission for the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea.

  • How different are the UN Sculpture Park, Peace Park, and the UNMCK?

    Unlike the UN Sculpture Park and the Peace Park, which are public parks created and managed by the Nam-gu district office, the UNMCK is NOT a public park. The UNMCK is a cemetery established by the United Nations Command during the Korean War for the interment of UN forces who were killed in action.

    The UNMCK is an international organization with a governing body (Commission for the UNMCK) that is distinct and separate from local and national governing bodies and is thus is subject to regulations that differ from those of public parks. 

  • May I enter the UNMCK wearing a sweat suit?

    Because the UNMCK is not a park but a war cemetery, respectful attire is required. Guests who are dressed in excessively casual or revealing clothing will be denied entry. 

  • What would be qualifications to be interred at the UNMCK?

    Criteria for burial at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea (UNMCK) have been defined by the 1959 Agreement Between the United Nations and the Republic of Korea for the Establishment and Maintenance of a United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea (hereafter The Agreement), as well as by precedents established by decisions of the Commission for the UNMCK. If you are interested in applying for burial at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea, please contact your nations embassy in South Korea, and they will be pleased to assist you in the application process. 

     

    As established by The Agreement, burial at the UNMCK is available to:

    Any personnel who may die while serving under the UN Command in Korea

    Any person who may die while serving with the United Nations or any of its organs in Korea.


    As established by decisions of the Commission for the UNMCK, the following are also eligible for burial

       at the UNMCK:

     Veterans of the Korean War

     Spouses of Korean War veterans who are interred at the UNMCK are eligible to be interred together.

    Spouses of soldiers who died in the Korean War and who are interred at the UNMCK are eligible to be  

         interred together.

     Siblings of soldiers interred at the UNMCK, and who also served in the Korean War, are eligible to be

         interred.



  • What sorts of memorial ceremonies are held at the UNMCK?

    There are official memorial ceremonies held annually and unofficial ceremonies held randomly throughout the year at the UNMCK. Please refer to the Events section for specific details.
