You would have been 91 today - 25th July 2023. 71 years after your death we, your family, remember you and the many others who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We know you were commanding a platoon in a forward position when you were sent to mend the wire around a minefield – there was some doubt about the site of the work and you ordered your men to keep under cover while you made a personal reconnaissance. Your death was instantaneous when you stood on that mine. You were only 20 and had volunteered to serve on as a junior officer in the Black Watch after your National Service, postponing your entry to Cambridge.
A short and promising life ahead cut tragically short.
