Dear an unknown soldier Hello, I am an ordinary middle school student in South Korea named Garam Lee. I am writing this message to you in order to appreciate your achievement while my country was chaotic. When I was young I heard some information about the Korean War. At that time, I didn’t know that well about the War. However, a few days ago I watched a documentary on TV and now I am really touched that you came to Korea and fought for ‘World peace and freedom’. In the documentary, it explained the circumstance of Korean War and I learned that we must remember it forever. It was also surprising that more than 20 countries came to my country and fight against North Korea. In 1950s, Korea was such a small, weak country that cannot live without any help from the other countries. It was very awful and the War made us more awful. In my opinion, I think one of the lives that you saved during the War must be an ancestor of mine. This was the reason why I decided to write a message to you. I know that you had your own family, friends and your important neighbors around you. Thus I was surprised that you gave up your own things and decided to sacrifice for a far country that you had never heard or seen. Also, your age was young and it was such beautiful ages to love, play, and enjoy your life. It was amazing that you came to my country just for World peace and our freedom. Unfortunately, we couldn’t unite North and South for 65 years. It is the only the only country that is divided by two. We are still living with fears about the possibility of another War. I think many youth in my country must remember the sacrifice of lots of soldiers that came from other countries. To do so, I will try to render them to remember your achievements. During Korean War, more than 40 thousand UN soldiers had passed away unfortunately. In addition, there are a lot more soldiers who are unknown but fought bravely. I want to thank every soldier who sacrificed themselves in order to save Korea’s future. I will live my life thankfully to the UN soldiers who sacrificed for us, and I immensely thank you that my country is now developing a lot. Your braveness and your sacrifice made my country peaceful and well developed. Thank you very much. Sincerely Garam Lee.
