UNMCK - UNITED NATIONS MEMORIAL CEMETERY IN KOREA

Dear Korean War Veterans, Hello I am Min Seo Son and I am middle school student at South Korea. How are you doing? I am writing this letter to appreciate for your kindness. I can't help but feel grateful for what you've done for us. I saw a newspaper article that during the Korean War, between June 25, 1950 and July 27, 1953, 40,896 U.N. soldiers passed away in 17 countries (including Norway among the 21 countries of medical aid). I was very surprised of the number of casualties. I also saw many war film and saw many people injured and having so hard time fighting in the war. While watching the movie, I realized that not only the war veterans but also their families spent each day worrying about possible injuries to their families. I don't know all about the pain and horror you went through as you fought to the death for our country. But I do know how precious and appreciative it is that you fought in blood and sweat. I would like to express my deep gratitude to you for coming to a country that has nothing to do with you and fighting for your lives. At that time, our country was just a small, fragile country. We are now strong enough to claim our lives in the developed world because you came to this country where there is nothing. People often call Korea a country that has achieved the miracle of the Han River. I don't think we could have accomplished these things without your help. Now our country is returning what we received. We are giving a helping hand to the countries that are going through what we've experienced in the past. We are very grateful to you for the great help and love you have given to our country to grow up. I hope you will not forget the Republic of Korea, the country that you have given so much help and love, and we will never forget you. We will live each day thanks to the love you have given us. I hope someday you will visit Korea and get back the love you gave us. I wish you have a happy day with the people you love.
