UNMCK - UNITED NATIONS MEMORIAL CEMETERY IN KOREA

Dear Honorable Filipino veterans of the Korean War, Hello, my name is Sun Jae Lee, and I am a high school student in South Korea. I would like to first thank you for everything you have done to protect our country. When South Korea was attacked by North Korea, Philippine was the first among the Asian brothers to give a helping hand to our country. I won’t forget this. Also, I read the column about Filipino veterans’ story of Korean War. While I was reading this, I got to know that your country sent combat troops and lots of veterans protected our country until 1955. I was not born at that time, but I really know that to participate in the war is a very difficult decision. So, your bravery and sacrifice feel much greater for me. Thanks to your efforts and sacrifice, our country has been developed until now. Our country would not be enjoying democracy without the great sacrifice of the Filipino Korean War veterans. Further, I could be born and live in this land very happily. Your heroism and sacrifice helped our South Korea to be a better and safer country than before. Along with this, I really think that our country should work hard to strengthen the bond between Philippine and South Korea. Further, South Korean must remember Filipino veterans and should thank for giving us the chance to stand up and reconstruct our country. Every time I hear or learn something regarding the Korean War. I feel gratitude for your endeavors and think that I will live my life as you in the future. Even if we are live quite far away, I won’t forget you and I will always be with you.
