Hi. I am Nakyung Yeon from Seoul Middle school. I am 16 years old in Grade 8. I learn both Korean history and Society at school. Many people in Korea are interested at the relationship between North Korea and South Korea. I saw at TV and news that we are getting better. Our president and the North representative have met recently and talked about both countries’ future. They already met together for 3 times! This is a very big change. It is good that both countries have a mind to talk to each other. My family and most people thought we can never be one with North Korea. There was a thick wall between us. Sometimes North Korea would declare that they will launch a rocket to our country. When I heard this news, I was a little bit nervous and thought about my future. If a war really happens what should I do? Do I have to leave Korea or go abroad to run away from the bombs? Sometimes I think maybe the second 6.25 war can happen again too. I never want to see a war happening in my life. However, in recent times we don’t have to be concern about the war. Our relationship is gradually getting better and maybe in the future we can dream about being unification. I saw at the news that Trump and Kim Jong Un met too. In the news if North Korea doesn’t provoke anymore, they could meet together again. Before a few years ago we could never imagine this situation. Because North Korea was making a nuclear bomb and it was illegal, all countries promised not to make it. However North Korea didn’t listen to the promise so U.S tried to suppress them. As they argued both became emotional and at that time I think U.S.A and North Korea’s relationship was the worst of all. It is good to see them being a little closer. The brave acts you made at the past is still affecting us. We learn a moral from you. First, our brave action can change the future. If we are afraid to do the thing lets be brave. Maybe our small, big action can make a difference. Second, whenever we look at the past let’s be thankful. 6.25 war was even dangerous for our soldiers to fight. However, the brave veterans fought for our country. They could lose their life in a worst situation. Lastly, happy future is waiting for us. I hope one day North and South will be unified. We should fix many problems. North and South language are very different in some ways. We have to reunify the language. Also, there are big difference in living style. South is living better than North. So, South should have to help North a lot. If we go to North Korea, we can use hidden energy. Without your help in the 6.25 war I won’t be here in this place right now. All that you fought and sacrifice yourself made the present. I again hope the peace comes both in North and South Korea soon. Sincerely, Na Kyung Yeon
