Dear, Korea War Veteran Hi. I'm Lee jun-seok, a high school student from South Korea.. Recently, South Korea and North Korea have been promoting inter-Korean summit talks to improve friendly relations. The summit was held between President Moon Jae-in and Chairman Kim Jung-eun at the Peace House of Panmunjom in the Agenda of Peace and New Start. Unlike the fact that two inter-Korean summits were held in Pyongyang after the 2000 inter-Korean summit and the 2007 inter-Korean summit for the first time in 11 years, the 2018 summit was held on the south side of Panmunjom. It is the first time in history that the North and South Korean leaders have been on the military border, and the first time that the North Korean leader has set foot on South Korea. The two leaders jointly issued a declaration of Panmunjom for peace, prosperity and unification on the Korean Peninsula. The two Koreas declared the end of the cease-fire agreement in 2018, 65 years after the cease-fire agreement was concluded. In addition, Japan will actively promote the holding of the three-party South-North-U.S. and the South-North-U.S.-China four-party talks in order to build a lasting and solid peace regime. The two Koreas agreed to end all hostilities against the enemy, which is the source of military tension and conflict in all areas, including the sea and the air, and decided to end all hostilities including the air and loudspeaker broadcasting near the border. They also decided to devise practical measures to prevent accidental military clashes and ensure safe fishing activities by making the Northern Limit Line part of the West Sea a peaceful zone. The two Koreas will set up a joint liaison office in the Gaesong area and agreed to hold reunions of separated families and relatives on August 15 this year, including the inter-Korean Red Cross talks. A practical measure will be taken to modernize and utilize the Dong-Hae Line and the Gyeongui Line. In addition, the two leaders agreed to establish regular inter-Korean summits and to strengthen mutual communication through direct telephone calls between them.
