Dear Korean war veterans, Hello, I'm Cho Yoon-bee, 1st grade student of Yongin Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. It's an honor to have the opportunity to express my thoughts to you. How are you doing now? Are you healthy enough? How are your lovely children? Have you ever told your children about your greatness? I wonder what kind of person you might be. I've been working on a number of activities for Korean war veterans at the school club HAFS CC. We visited and talked to Korean war veterans in person, and conducted related campaigns in schools. Every time I went through these various activities, my appreciation for the veterans grew bigger and bigger. The Republic of Korea became a ruin after the devastating Korean War. However, through these hardships, we have made rapid progress. Now, I am studying hard in Korea as a high school student of Korea. None of this would have happened without you. Thank you for giving me and the people living in Korea after the war life as a gift. It would have been really hard to sacrifice yourself for a country that wasn't your country. We offer our respect for your tremendous courage. All Koreans are always grateful to you. My dream for the future is to be a judge. I think the greatest value that a judge should pursue is justice. Just as you have made a noble sacrifice for us and realized the spirit of justice, I will strive to achieve justice like you. In Korea, we stopped the war with North Korea now. It's not a complete end of war, it's just been suspended for 53 years. While the movement toward peace continues, the ideological confrontation with North Korea is still serious. A few years ago, North Korea fired missiles at South Korea. Because of these military danger Korean youth are still compulsory to work for military. These military issues became a new conflict in our country. However, I don't think we should view such ideological confrontations only negatively. We've brought about a terrible war, but the confrontation already happened. We will be able to pursue greater peace based on these conflicts. Thinking of your sacrifice, I will always strive for peace between North and South Korea. If you can visit Korea, I would like to serve you a simple kimchi stew. I want to show you around Korea from Gyeongbokgung Palace, the tallest building, Lotte Tower, and the beautiful Namsan Tower. I want to show you the beauty of our country that you have created. Also, if possible, can you visit our school in person and let your friends know about your noble sacrifice spirituality? Do you know the book, Now One Foot, Now the Other? In the introduction of the book, a grandfather teaches his grandson to walk saying Now One Foot, Now the Other. After a while, when Grandpa is old, he takes his hand and walks, saying Now One Foot, Now the Other. Now, like his grandson, we'll hold your hand and repay you. Finally, I would like to say thank you very much. I will never forget your noble sacrifice. Truly, Cho Yoon-bee, 1st grade student of Yongin Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
